Mike Bautista - Story & Research

PRIMARY STORY

Exposition: Created from a magical tree that produces fruit fairies of all kinds, the one and only durian fruit ever is born, along with being the only fruit who bares spikes on her body.
Inciting Incident: The durian fairy attempts to play with the others, until she accidentally injures her best friend with her spikes.
Conflict: The durian fairy is then feared by fellow fairies, causing her to choose to isolate herself alone, hating and blaming herself for her "faults".
Crisis: When reminiscing about her old friend she had hurt, their village is attacked by a rabid squirrel - she impulsively decides to rush out and defend it, managing to stop the squirrel with her spikes but injuring herself and falls unconscious in the process.
Resolution: When she awakens, she is surrounded by the other fairies, including her old friend, who all thank her and give her a hug, despite the pain that they're all in to do so.

BACKUP STORIES

#1
Exposition: A man lives a very boring life routine, living with his mother and grandmother while going to work everyday to help pay for the house - he doesn't care for any of them and doesn't appreciate them nearly enough.
Inciting Incident: He meets the new intern at his work, who kisses his hand when they meet - he wakes up the next morning to find that his hand has 10 colored strings tied to it, stringing across his bedroom, out his window, underneath his door. Nobody else can see them.
Conflict: He spends time find where each string leads -  an orange string to tied to his mother, a blue string to his grandmother, a white one to an old college girlfriend. He is confused but remains intrigued, tracking down each all 10 of the strings. He bonds with each and every one of said string holders.
Crisis: He wakes up again to find that all the strings were gone, save for a new one (with a new color of red) attached to his ring finger. He tracks it to his own workplace, it leading it up higher and higher to the rooftop of the building.
Resolution: He finds the new intern, holding up their hand with the end of the red string, who then smiles at the man.

#2
Exposition: A boy wakes up to find that it's Valentine's Day -  the day he was going to confess to his crush, confession letter prepared and written in advance.
Inciting Incident: Arriving at school, he walks around looking for his crush, only to find them nowhere to be seen.
Conflict: The boy spends the entire day anxiously worrying, wondering where they went, if they're okay, if he himself did something to make them avoid him.
Crisis: The end of the day comes, and the boy out of frustration, crumples up his letter and throws it to the ground - he's given up until someone taps him on the shoulder.
Resolution: He turns around to find his crush, holding a letter with his name (he doesn't have a name right now) on it. He flushes and reaches down to grab his own letter to exchange it with his crush.
