PREFERRED STORY:

EXPOSITION: An air force Captain allows his jolly flight of three other pilots to accomplish missions as they please, which they do dangerously and efficiently.

INCITING INCIDENT: During a combat sortie, the flight completes their objective, but by performing risky stunts they end up getting one pilot killed.   

CONFLICT: The Captain tries to convince the remnant of his flight and his superiors that the flight should continue using their dangerous combat strategies.

CRISIS: Chain of command notifies the Captain that if he endangers his flight one more time, he will be relieved of his command of the flight.

RESOLUTION: The Captain decides along with the remaining pilots that there is no way to convince the superiors to let the flight continue their antics, and the Captain resigns his command to another person to lead the flight, while the Captain signs on as the flight munitions officer instead.

THEMES: Some things can’t last forever, sometimes you need to compromise, the rabbit, fox, and lettuce allegory thing.

BACKUP STORIES:

EXPOSITION: Kid is really good at paintball and plays all the time.

INCITING INCIDENT: Kid plays against a new team which dominates him every game.

CONFLICT: Kid doesn’t like playing against the new team because he hates losing.

CRISIS: Now, when the kid plays paintball against the bad kids, he doesn’t feel the same satisfaction that the used to.

RESOLUTION: Kid plays against the new team, and while he continues losing, he learns how to play better, and enjoys the game once more.

THEMES: Maturity, Learning, Challenging oneself.

EXPOSITION: Two countries, Troompa and Daelus, don’t like each other.

INCITING INCIDENT: A third country, Urula, arises and threatens both the other countries with total domination.

CONFLICT: Urula can easily take on each country individually, but if Troompa and Daelus fought together, they could push back Urula’s might.

CRISIS: Urula threatens Troompa and Daelus with destruction, but Troompa and Daelus have difficulty uniting due to poor relations.

RESOLUTION: Troompa and Daelus manage to put aside their differences to repel the Urula invasion.

THEMES: The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
